My First Stage Performance with Mom

With my Pre-school classmates singing our recognition song

One day I checked my facebook - as I do daily, for updates. My attention was caught by this picture tagged by my former classmate in elementary. After all these years, we have still connected to each other; thanks to Facebook.

I realized how fast time rushes in.

This is our recognition picture in Kindergarten. We were singing our recognition song here with our Teacher as the conductor. I couldn't remember everything but I'm sure this moment is full of excitement and wonder; Excitement for the next school year in another school and wonder for what could be waiting for us there.

I 'm an honor student (My Mom is proud of that ^^ ) so our teacher asked me to deliver a poem on our recognition day. I couldn't remember myself saying "YES" to my teacher. My mom did. But I did the task anyway. Of course, my ever-helpful "mama" helped me memorized the three-stanza poem - five lines each. I remember practicing the poem in front of mom while she's washing our laundry or cleaning the house. I managed to memorize the poem, including some hand gestures, before the "D-day" came; Thanks to my coach. ^^

I think my mother was more excited than I. She really prepared for this day. She bought the dress that she'll wear; She chose the clothes that I would wear too: Black pants and plaid long sleeves- I didn't want to tuck it in but she insisted. :( She Ironed it two days before my recognition day. She also bought a film for the Camera and cooked some dishes for the post celebration after.

Then the D-day came. I was shaking and nervous. My bones rattled!!! I was so shy to go in front. Then our teacher called my name. She introduced me to our visitors and to my fellow classmates' parents. I was welcomed with warm applause. I felt more nervous.

I uttered the first word of my poem with a shaky start. But every time I stared on my mom, who's giving her full support to me, I felt comfortable and confident. A thin smile flashed on my mother's face as I went through with my poem. I could see a proud mama on her smile.

Finally!! I delivered the poem with flying colors. I was relieved. That was my first stage "performance" - with mama behind me. ^^ hahaha

I Love You, Mama. Thank You for Everything <3
